Cementing the Future
Stoford Developments has marked the 'topping out' of Portland House, the landmark UK Headquarters of Lafarge Cement in Solihull with a special presentation to the company’s Land & Planning Director David Simms.
Dan Gallagher, Director of Stoford (left), was joined by Councillor Ken Hardeman (right), Birmingham City Council Cabinet Member for Regeneration, to hand over a mounted silver trowel to David Simms, Lafarge Land & Planning Director (centre), in front of the stunning, glass fronted 60,000sq ft offices just yards from Birmingham Airport and International Railway Station.
The building is set on a three acre site next to the NEC where Stoford secured a record £22 million pre-sale of the investment to M and F Finance (Ireland). Stoford agreed the pre-let to Lafarge following a competitive bid involving 10 local and national developers.
It is believed to be the largest commercial deal on the M42 since Stoford pre-let 71,000sq ft to Sendo Holdings plc in 2000.
Completion of Portland House is scheduled for July when Lafarge, the French-based manufacturer behind the leading Blue Circle Cement brand, will re-locate from its current base in Chiltern, Oxfordshire bringing more than 100 jobs to the area.
