Developers Map Out Prime Site for BMW
A new £6 million flagship BMW centre is to occupy one of the most sought-after commercial sites in Worcester -- thanks to Midland-based property companies Stoford Developments and A & J Mucklow Group.Stoford Mucklow jointly identified a prime site and helped secure planning permission for a prestige showroom development at Nightingale Place, fronting Berkeley Way in Warndon, for Robert Stern BMW.
The four-acre site, just two minutes from Junction 6 of the M5, will house a 27-car BMW showroom, an eight-car MINI showroom and a 14-bay workshop and parts facility that will bring around 95 new jobs to the city.
Robert Stern BMW will more than double in size when it relocates to the new site from its current outgrown premises in Evesham. Building work is set to start in Spring 2004 in readiness for a planned opening in January 2005.
Philip Beeson, Managing Director of Robert Stern BMW, said: "Our new flagship BMW centre will enable us to satisfy huge demand for the new MINI and cater for the launch of four new BMW models by the end of 2005."
He added: "Its location in a more densely populated area at the heart of our target market alongside other luxury makes will improve access for customers who will also be able to buy used cars and branded lifestyle products as well as relax with a coffee and other refreshments in a customer lounge area."
David Brown, a Director of Edgbaston-based Stoford Developments, commented: "We are delighted to have been able to provide the land and help secure planning permission for such a prestige showroom development which is sure to be regarded as an attractive landmark for Worcester."
The designers of the scheme are Warwickshire architects Scaramanga Design, while Colliers CRE were commissioned as relocation consultants. The agents for Stoford Mucklow were Harris Lamb and GVA Grimley.
