landmark Falls for Jobs Boost
The demolition of a redundant Leamington Spa landmark could make way for a new major business development and more than 250 local job opportunities.
The AP Water Tower at Spa Park off Tachbrook Road has been removed to make way for the proposed 340,000 sq ft national distribution centre for Wolseley UK, the UK’s largest suppliers of building products with brand names such as Build Center, Plumb Center and PipeCenter.
It will be adjacent to Wolseley’s stunning new UK headquarters building currently under construction and scheduled for completion in July. The scheme is a £10.9million transaction between Wolseley, Stoford Developments and Merill Lynch Investment Managers.
Dan Gallagher, Development Manager for Stoford, the Birmingham-based design and build specialists said: “It is great news that so many job opportunities could be created on one of the region’s most prestigious and conveniently located business parks.
“The water tower was built when Automotive Products were manufacturing on the site and though it is now redundant we have been able to retain the signage so that it can be kept as a piece of local history.”
