New Travel Destination Takes Off!
Property developers and holiday industry staff are celebrating the launch of a major new destination for Europe's largest travel firm. Some 800 Midland employees are about to move to the new £12 million Coventry headquarters of TUI UK which has been completed and fitted-out by Birmingham-based Stoford Developments.
The 60,000 sq ft office development at Westwood Business Park, just three miles from Coventry city centre, has been built on land bought from Coventry Council and boasts a superb working environment.
TUI UK, part of TUI AG that owns Lunn Poly and Thomson Holidays, has centralised its operations in the stunning glass-fronted open-plan building, which has an attractive atrium restaurant and a fully equipped fitness centre, and benefits from 250 parking spaces.
Chris Mottershead, TUI UK Managing Director, said: "The new building is a modern working environment with many great features for our staff; it enables us to consolidate a number of our operations under one roof so that we can continue to improve efficiency and strengthen our business."
He added: "Our commitment to Coventry, with its excellent central location and good transport links, is shown in both the location of our new site and in our new no-frills operation Thomsonfly that will begin flying out of Coventry Airport to a range of European destinations in March."
Tony Nash, a Director of Stoford Developments, commented: "We are delighted to have completed our fourth major project in Coventry, having already been responsible for the Inland Revenue and Learning & Skills Council offices and the new Camping and Caravanning Club headquarters."
Cllr Dave Batten, Coventry Cabinet Member Development and Regeneration, added: " I am delighted that TUI have decided to locate here in Coventry. They have created a great place to work for the 800 staff they will be bringing with them and I am sure they will really benefit and enjoy being located here in the heart of the UK. Their move also shows we have what it takes to attract HQs, which will contribute to our already successful and growing economy."
The three-storey landscaped development was designed by Dudley based Webb Gray & Partners and built by Worcester firm Laser Build, and TUI UK has an option for an 80,000 sq ft extension.
