Stoford Drives on with Completion of First Test Centre
Stoford Developments has completed its first multi-purpose test centre for the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) at Granby Avenue in Garretts Green, Birmingham.
The £7 million development includes a safe off-road test area for would-be motorcyclists being tested by the Driving Standard Agency ( the government department responsible for driving tests) and a 17,000 sq ft office building that will be part occupied by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency following its relocation from central Birmingham in May.
The 4-acre site, where car drivers will also be tested, driving licences and car tax will be locally administered was purchased by Stoford from Birmingham City Council and developed in association with Advantage West Midlands as an additional element to the North Birmingham Regeneration Scheme.
Rosemary Thew, DSA chief executive, said: “The new test centre will primarily provide a safe environment for local motorcyclists to take the new test and help to reduce the number of motorcyclist casualties on Britain’s roads – which is why it is so important.”
Stoford has completed its second test centre in Burton and has just started on its third at Basildon on a site that will also include a separate 56,000 sq ft speculative industrial unit.
Advantage West Midland assistance was needed to bring a contaminated derelict site back into use and create almost 200 jobs and 7 million of inward investment
