Leading Birmingham-based developer Stoford has appointed McLaren Construction Ltd to build the first phase of a new 250,000 sq ft research and development facility for aerospace group Moog on Wolverhampton’s i54 Business Park.
Stoford Project Manager Alex Morgan is pictured (left) congratulating McLaren Director, David Wheeler and Divisional Director David Gavin on being awarded the contract.
“We are delighted to be working again with Stoford”, said David Wheeler. “This is a great award for the McLaren Group, as it complements the continued growth of the McLaren Group in the West Midlands”.
Dan Gallagher, Stoford Director, added: “This is a significant milestone in a project that will give a great boost to the regeneration of the Black Country.”
Work is due to start this month on the 190,000 sq ft first phase of the two-phase construction programme, with completion expected by November 2011.
Moog is relocating its flight controls operation from its existing base in nearby Wobaston Road by September 2012 in a move that will safeguard around 400 jobs.
The project has been supported by Wolverhampton City Council, Advantage West Midlands and Fusion Building Consultancy.
