Leading commercial property developer Stoford is celebrating after winning two major industry awards for delivering the £60 million headquarters of insurance specialist Admiral Group in Cardiff.
The impressive development was recognised at the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Awards Wales 2015 last night (May 14) when it won awards for the commercial and project of the year categories.
Standing 11 storeys high, with three floors of basement car parking, the Ty Admiral development was completed earlier this year by Birmingham-based Stoford and Union Investments.
The 243,000 sq ft city centre building, Wales’ largest ever pre-let office development, is now the HQ for 2,400 Admiral employees who have relocated to the office from three other locations in the Welsh capital.
The awards celebrated the success of the working partnership between Admiral, Stoford, funders Union Investment Real Estate GmbH and construction company Sir Robert McAlpine.
The architecturally eye-catching BREEAM Excellent building, directly behind St David’s 2 Shopping Centre, meets the highest standards of environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.
Stoford director Tony Nash said: “Ty Admiral was a wonderful project and everyone at Stoford is proud to be associated with delivering such an outstanding office headquarters for Admiral right in the heart of Cardiff. ”
He added: “It is an outstanding example of a successful working partnership delivering a highly complex city centre project and we are delighted that it has been recognised by RICS Wales with two awards.”
